There are various forms of Vitamin C and L-Ascorbic Acid is the pure form. While it is highly effective, it is also highly unstable. L-Ascorbic Acid is a water-soluble ingredient, when dissolved in water and in contact with air (oxygen), it immediately starts to oxidise and degrade. Over a short time, it not only loses its efficacy but also becomes pro-oxidant which can be damaging to your skin. This can be noticed as the solution turns from clear to yellow and eventually becomes dark orange.

Formulating an effective L’Ascorbic Acid can be tricky. A recommended concentration will be 15% – 20% to be optimal. It also requires a low pH (2.5-3.5) to effectively deliver the benefits into your skin. Unfortunately, at such high concentration and this low pH, it can be irritating to the skin. Those with sensitive skin are advised to be careful when using or avoid it altogether.

Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate is an oil-soluble derivative of Vitamin C. Unlike L-Ascorbic acid, Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate will not irritate the skin. It is well tolerated by even the most sensitive skin types. It can be used in high concentration, and the ingredient will remain stable for up to 24 months without oxidizing. Because it is soluble in oil it can be absorbed into our skin deeply and quickly. It can be easily mixed with your cream or gel to be applied topically without affecting their textures and not disrupting the formulas.

Formulated without parabens, sulphates, synthetic fragrances, artificial colours, oxybenzone, hydroquinone and triclosan.

Ingredients:
Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate.

Directions:
Add a drop or two to your favourite cream or lotion and apply onto skin until fully absorbed. Can be used as spot treatment. If so, apply once or twice a week to start with. Then apply as and when if there is no irritation.

We recommend patch testing before use. Discontinue use if skin irritation occurs.
